Gail Bessette - Adirondack Artist

GAIL BESSETTE paints moods and memories rather than places in time, creating scenes that objectify and transmit feelings the natural world evokes. Her works come to life through the experience of each observer by tapping into deep memories of a scene remembered or a moment now past.

At once realistic and abstract, her art uses rich composition and color to transform natural landscapes into landscapes of the mind. Her paintings often do not so much look like something as feel like something – a stand of trees, a shaft of sunlight on a rolling meadow, a meandering stream – all subjects that figuratively flow from a palette of passion and emotion.

Honored by such prestigious organizations as The Salmagundi Club, Allied Artists of America, Audubon Artists, and the Copley Society of Art, she is a Copley Master and signature member of the Pastel Society of America. Private and corporate art enthusiasts adorn their offices and homes with her unique, vibrant and refreshing oils and pastels.
